Three Deep Strong
Reds for Friday

High Quality At Special Prices

Glug GH21 Single Barrel Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
PPB 31 Premium Private Bin 'Three Hares' Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache 2016
P.B. Burgoyne Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015

What you want is exciting, new wines presented to you daily. Yet the conventional method works the opposite way: long term planning with big volumes moving slowly along the distribution pipe line to shops. If however you make it, bottle it and sell directly to enthusiasts you can achieve what to-date has not been possible. So why not deliver a stream of unique creations, made in small amounts to thoughtful customers? Like the three offered here.

Glug GH21 Single Barrel Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
A big, sumptuous, full bodied, ripe, at times outrageous Cabernet with complex flavours. Benjamin made this, and as he does, released one barrel for bottling for the interest of customers. I enjoyed scoring the wine.

PPB 31 Premium Private Bin 'Three Hares' Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache 2016
The two great heritage varieties of the Barossa Valley form the backbone of this winemakers experiment. Benjamin is also a crack-shot and the favourite target is the local population of hares which are healthy and large-hence his nickname for the wine.

Made in tiny amounts hence the provisional label which keeps costs down. Limit of one case per order as not much left.

P.B. Burgoyne Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015
A fortunate purchase early last year has given us a Barossa Shiraz staple for over 12 months. There is a bit left though we are fretting about where the next will come from. Recall we did not make this wine but were lucky to be around when it came up for sale.

When a wine is of high quality and at a budget price you win the double.
That is what we do at Glug.

For another viewpoint of the quality of Glug wines the process is underway for others to review our wines. This is being done to provide additional comfort of the quality/price ratio for our customers.

Working out whether you are getting a good deal is devilishly difficult. I have watched the bravest tasters faulter when asked an opinion of a wine without any background knowledge. When you cannot see the price or the label and no details are provided, no clues at all, it begins to get interesting.

Many Glug wines come and go quickly. However the review process, such as entering in National and City wine shows or submitting wines to review magazines like Winestate, requires that the wines be available to the public after judging results are announced or when the magazine appears in the news-agents.

For example submitting to Winestate, the national review magazine which began in May, 1978, means a sample reviewed this month will not be seen in the magazine till October-November.
In the meantime I will give my own scores and make the mild boast that no matter what judging panel looks at our wines they do not have my experience. I do accept though you want some impartiality.

We do have a few staples which are in stock for most of the year, such as, Goat Square, Karrawirra, Ariadne Sauvignon Blanc and a smattering of others so having these judged will give customers benchmarks.

Till then I will give my scores and I welcome you to include any of our wines in any masked tastings you wish to organise. I assure you they will look good in all company.

30 Day Pricing Guarantee:
After buying wine it is most annoying to find it cheaper shortly afterwards. Currently Ben and I find selling on-line most turbulent. To hold our ground I confess to moving prices around far more than usual. Please notify Nicole or Claire of any upsetting price moves and they will then issue a credit.

Bagot Station Captains Table Barossa Valley Red Blend No 2 2012
Each year we buy many tiny volumes and can make a better wine by blending three or four of these into a commercial parcel which is about 30 cases. This preserves the regional characters and keeps the price modest.

South Australian All Red Selection Series No.2

I put together this mixed dozen to show that under $7 we have a range of hand made, individual reds which for many customers will be all they need. Wines come and go quickly at Glug as making huge amounts and smothering vintage differences is not our way.
