Single Variety from the Coast
P.B. Burgoyne McLaren Vale Grenache Rose 2016
Region: McLaren Vale
Benjamin Parker hits his stride with this striking new rose. This is the story. Benjamin and I were drawn back to Grenache for this McLaren Vale Rose. We both have a good idea of how the Barossa Valley shapes a Grenache rose and this vintage wanted to explore another of the famous regions of the Mount Lofty-Adelaidean Ranges.
The seaside location of McLaren Vale is pretty special as the coolness that blows in from the ocean tempers the heat of the day. This makes whites and roses a touch more gentle and perhaps elegant than those we have featured from the Barossa Valley.
I first sold McLaren Vale roses made from Grenache in the early 1980s as even then I wanted the true expression that comes from a single variety, and Grenache is perhaps the best. I am delighted with our decision and no apologies to our many customers who have been enjoying the Barossa experience and now found we have moved to the coast. Please keep shifting with us as you will enjoy the wine experience a lot more.
