Continues Glug Tradition of Exploring Attractive blend
Kitts Creek Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache 2012
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
We stock a few Shiraz Grenache blends and I strongly recommend you explore this style with the Kitts continuing our exploration of this fascinating blend which began back in 2005.
Historically we know that Mataro and Grenache were added to Barossa Shiraz to deepen and round out the flavours though this was not explained on the label. Winemakers knew it made better wines but it also provided an outlet for varieties they did not know how to sell. These ideas led to Grenache Shiraz Mataro blends or GSMs and now because an advanced group of consumers understand these styles most Barossa growers produce examples.
We of course have numerous examples of wines involving the three varieties Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro. With the Shiraz Grenache blends we want it to taste like Shiraz with an aroma lift and back palate 'sweetness' being added by the Grenache. When it's right as it is in the Kitts Creek it is a superb, full flavoured, soft blend.
