Recall Barossa from 10/10 Vintage
Langdorf Kaldukee Barossa Valley Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2012
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
I like the full ripe flavours of the Kaldukee and the winemaker Benjamin Parker has done an excellent job.
I have always wanted ripeness in reds meaning flavour and through the 1980s was one of the few retailers still championing the reds of Penfolds.
Currently in our wine shows the judges have drifted to far from the middle ground in their praise of cool climate reds, perhaps forgetting that the most successful wine, Penfolds Grange is commonly from 90% Barossa Valley fruit.
Hence the Grenache component is a big solid ripe wine and handles well the solid Shiraz.
Thus for a pleasant richer style giving a lot of quality for the price the Langdorf Kaldukee has much which will appeal.
