Cooling Minty Qualities which are Attractive
Hope Farm McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Region: McLaren Vale, SA
I often go to the small restaurant 'Fino' in the southern McLaren Vale town of Willunga. Sharon, who runs the front end, has a good wine selection and when I ask for a glass of something new and interesting, it is often a local Cabernet.
The seaside influence that develops the wine flavours in McLaren Vale wines is not far away in this variety and I detect a cooling, mintiness which is most attractive and merges into the bigger warmer flavours. This makes for a complex mix and the wines do well in the show ring with McLaren Vale Cabernets being awarded a good share of the top trophies and the golds. There is also a pleasing contrast between McLaren Vale and Barossa Cabernets and I urge you to drink them side by side. The maker of the wine was Nicholas Bourke and we are pleased with his talent and believe our customers will be as well.
