Expresses the Exceptional and Rare Climate
Trennert McLaren Vale Shiraz 2014
Region: McLaren Vale
Australia has many coastal wine regions such as Margaret River, Robe-Mount Benson, and the Mornington Peninsula though the most difficult to understand is McLaren Vale. Difficult as the wines made are warm climate in taste yet the region is further south than Margaret River and is as close to the coast line as all of the others.
Even the barrier of the Adelaide Hills cannot keep out the inland heat of central and southern Australia from overwhelming the cooler coastal influences. This has in turn set up the great historical battle for Shiraz supremacy between the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale.
There will be no winner and neither should there be one, though the integrity of wines like Penfolds Grange mean little of the McLaren Vale style is needed most vintages in the final blend.
This Trennert is a recent purchased secured for us by the wine consultant Nicholas Bourke and I am pleased to add it to our premium range.
