Shearers 2012 Brilliant
Shearers Lament 'Blades' South Australia Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Region: South Eastern Australia
This is the fourth vintage of Shearers and is of much higher quality than those first releases. Back we knew what we wanted but used contractors to make the final blends. All I can is 'no more and never again'. Now winemaker Parker is fully in charge the quality has lifted and perhaps, just a little, we can relax. All of the wine in this blend is from premium South Australian regions with none from the Riverland. I love the Riverland but the concentration of flavours that develops further west in the Mount Lofty Ranges is world class. To be able to blend wines we have made and sourced from this great region and offer it at this price gives us much pleasure. And if I may repeat the story behind this brand: Jackie Howe shore 321 sheep with shears in 1892 and this was not beaten until 1947 and the bloke used machine shears. This story has no connection to wine except effort brings reward and Ben has again delivered.
