Liquidation Specials

I Bought The Lot

Port Lincoln Selections for $69.90 a Case

We rarely buy bottled wines preferring to bottle what we create. These clean-skins though pricked my interest as the price was right; so for comparison think of lesser McLaren Vale styles if pondering purchase. They sit under Glug quality but all wine has a clearing price and these are worth what we ask. In particular the SSB will plug holes when you are entertaining a large number of thirsty visitors.

Cleanskin
Port Lincoln
South Australia Shiraz 2013

Shows promise and sits in the OK basket. If you drink Goat Square do not buy but if you hunt bargains this is OK. I would like it a bit riper.

Cleanskin
Port Lincoln
South Australia Riesling 2013

Pleasant but only buy if you are well aware of the interesting ageing character that many Australian Rieslings move towards. High specialist appeal.

The Wednesday clean-skin specials are from Port Lincoln which is very good land for vineyards and its time for development will come.

The Wednesday clean-skin specials are from Port Lincoln which is very good land for vineyards and its time for development will come.

It is a mistake to assume that because no vineyards exist in any region on the globe this means the vine does not grow. Perhaps it follows that if only a few vineyards exist this suggests the wines made are only average.

To dispel such thoughts note the vine is spreading fast across China and the rise of New Zealand is very recent.

Thus when I tell you the wines on special today are 100% from Port Lincoln, South Australia down on Eyre Peninsula which is due west of Adelaide do not be concerned.

In the future, assuming water is available, it will be splendid wine country.

Naturally opening up new regions requires pioneers while of greater importance is a local population that will buy the wines. This means wealthy Canberra is better place to be a pioneer than Mudgee.
Back now to the wines being offered today. New regions lack expertise and time and again I have noticed that when skilled graduates join the hard working pioneers, quality rises and great things can happen, and an example unfolding is Tasmania.

Alas this Port Lincoln pioneer, threw up the hands of despair, closed up, and unusually for Glug as we seldom buy bottled wines, the final stock ended up in our hands. We cannot use the vineyard name which has been sold.

The wines are priced under market value at $6 while $10 would be too high. Ex the winery they were $20.

30 Day Pricing Guarantee:
After buying wine it is most annoying to find it cheaper shortly afterwards. Currently Ben and I find selling on-line most turbulent. To hold our ground I confess to moving prices around far more than usual. Please notify Nicole or Claire of any upsetting price moves and they will then issue a credit.

Fareham Estate
Clare Valley
Riesling 2018
Packed with a complex array of citrus flavours that make Riesling from Clare so inviting.

It is also a wine anomaly coming from a region with such a warm latitude.

P.B. Burgoyne
Langhorne Creek
Shiraz 2016

When Burgoyne was looking for wine in South Australia I doubt he made it to Langhorne Creek as until recently it was on no one’s radar.

Its been on mine for a few years and the strength of this Shiraz will reveal why it deserves your interest.

Restless Farm
‘The Bunny’
McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016
It is an interesting lot of animals that appear down on the Restless Farm; being part hard working farm animals, part wild animals, part imported animals with a few circus animals that had no other farm.

Take your pick though I can assure you the wine quality is high.

Exploring the Full Favoured Reds of South Australia No.2

The reds of South Australia are very special. The reason is the geography of the premium vineyard regions means the climate is a balance between cooling and ripening in a way which is not found anywhere else on the globe. The bunches of grapes are pulled towards the coolness of the Great Southern Mega Ocean which slows flavour development, which can alter quickly by the intense, inland, heat flowing in from the baking, red centre.

It is this balance, constantly tilting, which makes complex, intense, interesting flavours which are best referred to as warm flavoured reds. Though a grower in Coonawarra may well disagree. Any-way this is the first mix of a wonderful new selection.

Each dozen contains one bottle of the following wines:
Colton & Hewett McLaren Vale Cabernet 2014
Crayford Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016
Cameron Country 'Red Post' Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Princeland Watch Limestone Coast Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Crayford Barossa Valley Cabernedro 2016
Hope Farm McLaren Vale Shiraz 2015
Andrina Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2016
Light & Finniss South Australia Adelaidean Dry Red Blend 2012

It's All Barossa Valley - 100% Guaranteed No.5

The Australian press, tourist agencies and P.R. companies all agree that the most popular wine region, the most recognised, is the Barossa Valley. The late, great Chef Joel Rubuchon was famous for his mashed potatoes which contained 25% butter. ‘No one who tasted his recipe, made with 25 per cent butter, could forget the experience’. This reads like a proxy for the Barossa Valley, not just a warm climate red but one exploding with 25% more flavour.

Each dozen contains one bottle of the following wines:
Grandma Raethel Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015
Bengalee Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015
Goat Square Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016
Crayford Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016
