What Does One Wear With Leopard Print Shoes?
Tuesday, 4th July, 2006
I have been coveting a pair of leopard print stilettos for months, maybe years, maybe they're all I've ever wanted. I have finally found my ideal pair in a small shop in Canberra. I baulked at buying them instantly, hesitating at the thought of the many women I have seen wearing this manner of footwear, but not really wearing them at all.
For example. The unadventurous would make them the emphasis of an ensemble perhaps by wearing them with a black skirt or long black pants and black knitwear, I'm seeing a turtle neck here... an outfit like this suggests to me that the wearer will come to regret her shoe purchasing bender shortly, thanks to the limited options she has to wear them with. This is entirely the wrong tack, it is a signature of new money and the mundane.
In these situations, one is really only limited by one's confidence. If you "owned" those ornamental shoes you would have thrown them on with a pair of jeans and a Rolling Stones T-Shirt. Wearing them with chutzpah and with a twinkle of "these shoes were the last thing I thought about when I threw this ensemble on".
The shoes are just so lovely - about a 3 inch heel, made of a leopard print ponyskin, they are exactly the shoe I have been dreaming of and searching for on Ebay. I am sure this would definitely be an investment shoe. When in the past 20 years have leopard stilettos been inappropriate? I cannot think of a time.
