From A True Tale of the Times, Mrs A.
"As I sipped the wine, which drank like velvet, I blessed those men who work the stony soil and know all there is to be known about making noble wine. With the cheese and the last glass I turned to Mrs. A.
'And did you like the wine?' I said.
'Oh yes,' she said, and sipped an appreciative sip. "it's delicious, absolutely delicious...', and then (I didn't realize until later, when it had time to sink in, the full poignancy of the remark) she said one of the saddest things that have been said to me for years: '...absolutely delicious... and it's not at all bitter."
